Zonita at Ampthill Festival

Thom Crabbe — Tue, 05 Jul 2022 23:09:20 GMT

Zonita volunteers were delighted to be at the Ampthill Gala in July to spread the word about the community cinema with our light box, posters and flyers. We had lots of interested visitors during a glorious afternoon, including royalty! All our flyers went, with lots of interest in our season 'curtain raisers' on September 10th, 'Encanto' (matinee) and 'Belfast' (evening).

Our 'identify the film' competitions had over 90 entries and the season ticket winners will be announced shortly. We gave away free tickets for all children who entered the competition and look forward to seeing many new faces at Zonita in the autumn!

Largest ever turnout for Fisherman's Friends

Glenn Hutchings — Sun, 12 Jan 2020 10:53:56 GMT

We had our largest ever audience last night, for the showing of Fisherman's Friends. Thanks to all who came along, and a very big thanks to the Sloop Groggy Dogs for putting on a great show! They very kindly donated their time and singing skills for free, instead having a collection for the RNLI.

Here's a small sample of the music they played that night, recorded by Ian Jenks, one of our volunteers:

Armistice 100 price is back to £5!

Andy Melville — Thu, 25 Oct 2018 17:36:10 GMT

We're pleased to announce that, because of the huge demand for 10th November Armistice 100 tickets, we have reduced the admission price to the standard £5 again. Also, to cater for the increased demand we won't be putting out tables for this event, so table reservations won't be available. Sorry about that!

Armistice 100 double-bill on 10th November!

Andy Melville — Thu, 16 Aug 2018 17:35:57 GMT

As part of the Ampthill Armistice 100 events, we are showing a double-bill of films on the evening of 10th November. Because of this, for that evening only, the admission price will be £7.50.

Fremantle events this year

Andy Melville — Sat, 13 Aug 2016 13:17:52 GMT

Zonita Community Cinema currently runs a 9-show schedule for the local folk of Ampthill and surrounding villages, plus plans for up to 4 shows per year going forward with Fremantle-MacIntyre-Leonard Cheshire, based at Parkside Hall. Whilst Zonita already has a fantastic group of volunteers to help on the day plus behind the scenes, there is an opportunity to support our cause. (If you're interested in getting involved, email us at the address below; we'd love to to hear from you.)

Out first Fremantle event, Singalong-a-Mamma-Mia, was last September. Click here to read all about it, see more photos, and find out a lot more about the Fremantle Trust.

Below is a slide show of some pictures from our recent July showing (Singalong-a-Grease), which had around 120 attendees---a fantastic evening all round. We hope to host another event later this year.
